Overview

PennDOT recognizes the importance of public meetings and community input in the transportation planning and design process. During each phase of this project, public meetings have been held to gather public input.

Public meetings were held in October 1995, December 2001, September 2002, May 2004, December 2005, and March 2007. A Design Charette was held on December 15, 2001 to ensure that an aesthetic design, reflecting and complementing the Oakland area, would be achieved. Meetings have been held with the Oakland Task Force (OTF) to reinforce this context sensitive design.

Attendees were encouraged to fill out a project questionnaire at the public meeting. The comments from these questionnaires were used to help PennDOT better understand how the public perceives the project and what can be done to best meet the public’s needs.
