Outbound traffic to Oakland on Forbes Avenues through the Boulevard of the Allies construction zone, will be reduced to a single lane, starting Monday night. Normally, Forbes accommodates three lanes of traffic in that area, but since the $29 million "gateway" project got under way earlier this year, only two lanes have been open. Now, only one lane will be open until late August between Moultrie Street and McDevitt Place. Traffic entering Forbes Avenue from the Parkway East outbound will be free-flowing to keep it from backing up onto the parkway, requiring motorists on Forbes to stop.
While the lanes are closed, workers will construct new drainage facilities and a retaining wall along Forbes as part of the ramp, bridge and roadway reconfiguration.
